1. Documents - What will I need to collect my vehicle?

  • Valid, original driver's license for ALL NAMED drivers. Drivers must hold a full national driving license from their country of residence for at least 2 years, to produce on pickup. Licenses issued overseas must be clearly identifiable as a driving license, otherwise an International Driving License will be required as well.
    Old-style paper licenses (which show endorsements) are valid until their expiry date. It is the driver's responsibility to ensure that he/she has the appropriate driving license. A driving licence code made through gov.uk which will enable us to view your driving licence online.

  • A valid credit card or debit card. This should be in the principal driver’s name. Debit card payments will require a £300 deposit.

  • Proof of address. Please bring a recent (no more than 3 months old) utility bill or bank statement.

2. Can I add a driver after the rental period has started and after I have collected the car?

Additional drivers may be added on presentation of their valid driving licenses.

3. Will I get the exact vehicle that I choose?

Vehicles are arranged by group. You are not guaranteed to get the exact vehicle that you choose, but will receive one in the same group or better.

4. Looking at the prices, what is a Weekend and what is a Long Weekend?

A Weekend is defined as picking up Friday (after midday for Cars and after 1700 for Vans) and dropping off before 9am Monday. A Long Weekend is any weekend picking up after midday Thursday and dropping off before 9am Monday; or picking up after midday Friday dropping off before 9am Tuesday.

5. Are there any age restrictions for drivers?

Yes. Drivers must be between 23-70 years of age. Special arrangements can be made for drivers over 70 by contacting us on 020 7407 6598

6. How do I contact Carpoint?

7. Can I pick up at one location and return to another?

All rentals must be picked up and returned to 69 Borough Road, London SE1 1DN (2 minutes from Elephant and Castle)

8. Can I change my booking?

Once you have made a reservation request here, you will receive a confirmation number via email. Navigate to View / Change a Request on the homepage and enter your number. If the pickup time is less than 48 hours away, please call us on 0207 407 6598 or 0207 403 1314

9. Can I change my booking once the vehicle has been collected?

Subject to availability, after your vehicle as been collected you may extend the return date/time. Please call us on 0207 407 6598 or 0207 403 1314

10. I wish to change my reservation request. Will I be charged to do this?

If you provide us with at least 48 hours notice, there will be no charge for changing your reservation request. Within 48 hours please call us on 020 7407 6598

11. Can I cancel my booking?

To cancel a booking less than 48 hours from the pickup date, please call us on 0207 407 6598 or 0207 403 1314

12. Can another person other than a driver pay for the rental?

Yes. The cardholder must accompany the driver at the point of collection.
The cardholder must produce a valid credit/debit card and a bank statement or credit card statement no more than 3 months old.

13. What methods of payment are accepted?

All major credit cards are accepted excluding Diners and American Express. Note that payments made with a debit card will require a £300 deposit.

14. Will there be a deposit taken on my card when I collect the vehicle?

If paying by credit card no deposit is required. If paying by debit card a £300 deposit will be taken.

15. Is there a mileage restriction on the vehicle?

200 miles a day are free. One week and over unlimited miles.

16. Do I need to check the condition of a vehicle prior to leaving the location?

We do a joint damage inspection with you before handing over the keys, and will provide a copy of the damage inspection report.

17. Can I drive the rented vehicle into another country?

Yes. You will need to contact the office on 020 7407 6598 for details of countries acceptable.
There is a charge for breakdown assistance and greencard insurance.
Vehicles must not be taken outside the UK mainland without prior permission.

18. What if I have an accident?

Accidents must be reported within 24hrs and a report form needs to be filled in by the driver in the case of an accident, giving a full account of the circumstances in which the accident happened.

19. Do I need to return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel?

All vehicles have a full tank of fuel when leaving and should be returned the same way.

20. What is the Insurance Excess?

The excess is £300.00. Should you have an accident or damage the vehicle in any way, the excess amount will be charged.
